"The Rules of the Game"
03-Oct-06, 10:50 AM (EDT)
Welcome to the Predict the Result contest, the rules are simple:
-One thread will be created for each game of the season, all predictions for that game must be posted to the thread. Sparky will generally start the thread but if he's a loser and doesn't someone else can;
-For each game predict the following three things: the winning team, the final score, and the player who scores the game winning goal. For example: "Caps win, 5-1 over the Flyers, Clark with the GWG";
-When a user correctly predicts which team will win they are awarded 2 (two) points. Overtime/shootout wins and losses are not differentiated from regulation wins/losses;
-Predicting the final score accurately is worth 4 (four) points. Predicting one half of the final score correctly is worth 1 (one) point. Example: given the prediction above if the final score is 5-1 Caps then I get 4 points. If it's 5-3 Caps then I get 1 point. If it's 3-1 Caps I get 1 point. If it's 5-1 Flyers I get no points;
-Predicting the player who scores the Game Winning Goal correctly is worth 3 (three) points. In case of a shootout, the GWG points do not apply;
-Preseason games do not count in the standings;
-All predictions must be posted at least 10 minutes before the published start time of the game based on the clock on the board;
-Disputes will be resolved by Sparky, and that's final;
-Depending on participation, prizes may be awarded after the season.

Let's Go Caps!
