Well, whether we think its a good move or not,his presence will surely make the baddies think twice..Despite his limited skills,he is still a scary fighting foe. I know a lot is said about team toughness etc,and where as I know Clarkie,Pettinger,Bradley are all game,Im happy to see we have bulked up with a genuine puglist.

That was actually something I hadn't thought of, now Clark, Pettinger, Bradley, Sutherby, and other no longer need to "stand up" for A.O. or anybody else. That was one of the endearing things about the team last year, when the fecal matter hit the fan, the entire team held a meeting in somebody's face to discuss the issue. Now that we have a bonafide "enforcer", there's no real reason for those guys to do that. And considering the type of game A.O. plays in the first place, this type of move could actually increase the cheap shots taken at him. Rightly or wrongly, players and teams will feel that A.O. is taking liberties because he has Brashear to hide behind. ------------------------- http://capsnut.blogspot.com/ Everybody Wang Chung...... Where I thought you were going was that, with Do-nald in the mix, those mentioned, especially Suts and Pettinger, might focus more on their skill game than worrying about making life miserable for those who did the same to Ov on a previous shift. As for your second point, I respectfully disagree. I think our man has shown the league that he plays a hard hitting, but clorox clean game - taking the body square-on and not using the stick, elbow, knee, etc. And that he's capable of dealing punishment on his own, unlike a certain other guy who wore #87 last year. Upon reflection I'm happy that we signed Brashear. This year more than last, everyone will be gunning for Ov, and while he can dish out the hits and take the punishment himself, without any protection he's going to get hurt (by a cheap shot or his own enthusiastic "retaliation"). Or at least spend precious time in the box. Brashear will stop last year's "Ryan Whitney type" behavior - at least we hope.

Yeah, that's the cavet, "we hope."I for one have never believed that enforcers stop very much in the way of cheapshots. They almost universally have to be on the ice at the time of the incident nowadays in order to be of any effectiveness. Do we really want Brash skating with A.O.? Maybe for comedy sake but not for a whole lot else. ------------------------- http://capsnut.blogspot.com/ Everybody Wang Chung...... Please load brain before shooting off mouth.™

Ha,ha,I liked it man!...although I must admit I only knew the hockey stuff. Thought the Bondra article was superb..my wife still ribs me about that woe-full day of the Bondra to Sens trade, and how I sobbed..(well I was erm..only...32)-still miss him...but thankfully I had the catharsis of actaully cheering against him as Olie stopped his shoot-out attmept in the exciting win over the Thrash during my last vist to Caps land.
