"Witter on the move....."

According to Rumor Boy, Witt to Nashville....

No details on the return.

#1. Makes sense that David "Bud" Polie would try to get Witt because David "Bud" Polie drafted him in the first place.

#2. Odd because even though Witt has a relatively low salary ($1.62 mill) and Nashville is a little close to the Cap. Even if we're taking salary in return, why would either team want to pay a "new" player for two weeks of inaction?

Depends on how badly Witt wants out of Dodge.

Don't bother me - I am trying my best to ignore you

I think Eklund is feeding off of a semi-reputable radio guy down there, this could have legs.

Why it will happen:
-Witt asked to be traded and will be;
-Potential salary dump for the Caps;
-Nashville needs a veteran "C" wearing type defenseman for their playoff push;
-Nashville has a good farm system with solid 2-way players, the kind Poile drafts well and GMGM likes.

Why it won't happen:
-Nashville close to the cap;
-Poile knows Witt and knows how he's played recently;
-Poile isn't interested in paying what it would take to get him;
-Caps still annoyed about 3rd rounder traded for rights to Sykora;
-Still time before 9 March deadline, lots of teams interested in Witt.

Let's Go Caps!
