"Odd tidbit....."

From Elias Sport Bureau:

"The Capitals defeated the Lightning 4-3 on Sunday, despite being outshot 40-14. Here's an odd one: Washington has now won or tied the last four games -- three of them during the 2003-04 season -- in which its opponents had at least 25 more shots on goal than the Capitals had."

Of course, this is only slightly more useful than the "in games that start on Wednesday nights after 7:30 pm Eatern when the moon is in the third House of Usher" stats.......

One of the former Caps TV guys (maybe is was Ron Weber) always use to give the teams record on that date in history and the highlights of any of those games.

The other interesting thing to point out is that the score was 3-2, not 4-3. The winning team in the shootout is credited with one goal to the team's final score. The losing team is not credited with any goals. So, even if the shootout was 6-5 in the Caps' favor, the final score would have been 3-2, since they were tied at 2 after regulation/overtime.

Glad the Elias Sports Bureau is paying such close attention.
